Fourth Grade Parent/Students Night

(Click on pictures for a larger view.)

We had a great turn out of parents and children interested in the strings program.

The Teachers told us about the program and the instruments.

Mrs. L. Smith told us where string instruments came from.

In the beginning there were coconuts, deer, hunter/gatherers and GUTS!

The hunter/gatherers gathered coconuts and hunted the deer.

One night after the big feast some guts landed on the coconut shells.

They dried and the hunter/gatherers discovered that they could make sounds.

Mrs. M. Smith described what it takes to be an orchestra student ....

You have to be committed, practice 6 days a week, and remember...

We are the kings and queens of Reynoldsburg!

 and told us about Cellos

Cellos are larger than Violins and Violas.

The problem is...you have to drill a hole in your neck for this endpin.

(Just kidding)

Worried about the size?

We have Cellos for small people too.

Mrs. Gaulke also demonstrated a violin for smaller students.

These are both violins!

I'll play this one for you but it really is for much smaller fingers.

How about that?

Each of the instruments was demonstrated by a High School student.

Violin

Viola

Cello

Bass

The High School Orchestra played while the Fourth Graders watched.

Then the Fourth Graders tried.
