Young People’s Concert
On February 17, 2000 the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade string students attended a concert performed by the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Miss Alisa Weilerstein, an eighteen year old cellist from Cleveland, Ohio, was the featured soloist. Miss Weilerstein played the Haydn Cello Concerto in D major. She was a very animated musician and made playing the cello look easy! Pieces by Maurice Ravel, Ellen Zwilich and Franz Schubert were also performed.
After the concert, all 186 students and chaperones went to lunch at our local HomeTown Buffet. The students enjoyed their special lunch! The students received numerous compliments from the restaurant manager and other diners. The students were fine representatives of the Reynoldsburg City Schools!
Thank you very much to the chaperones who volunteered their time to make this trip possible. Also, thank you to BASS for purchasing the tickets for the concert, the Ashton Middle School PTA for paying for the middle school transportation, Dr. Herbert Wright at RJHS for providing the junior high transportation, and our friends in the Transportation Department, Mrs. Marilyn Key, Mrs. Fran Charles and the bus drivers for their help. It takes many people to have a successful trip. Thank you to everyone who helped
