RHS Orchestra Tour

Excitement filled the air on April 18th. It was elementary tour day for the High School Orchestra. What a busy day! The orchestra performed for students at Graham Road, Herbert Mills and French Run Elementary schools. More than 1000 students enjoyed the songs Quiet Courage, Baby Elephant Walk, Mickey Mouse, George of the Jungle, Somewhere Out There, Pink Panther, and Square Dance. The violin, viola, cello and bass were introduced to the students in the audience. The highlight of the performance was when the high school students stood, kneeled or sat amongst the elementary students while playing Square Dance. Many of the elementary students had a smile when they saw a string instrument up-close for the first time.

Tour day was a busy and draining day. After two morning concerts at two schools the orchestra headed for lunch. Thanks to BASS the high school students enjoyed lunch at the HomeTown Buffet. After the students were again energized, they performed their third concert of the day and then headed back to the high school. A great public relations day and an educational experience for both young and old.
