The
Reynoldsburg High School Orchestra will participate in the large group State
Orchestra Event on Friday, March 2, 2001. The Orchestra will prepare three pieces
for the adjudicated event, two “required”
pieces and a select piece. The students will perform this music for three
judges (adjudicators) who will tape record the pieces and give verbal and
written critiques. The Orchestra will then receive a rating from each
judge based on how well the music was delivered. The ratings can range
from Superior (I) to Poor (V). After the “on-stage” performance
the students will go to a sight-reading room. Music will be studied for
three minutes and then performed. The Orchestra will receive a rating on
their sight-reading abilities. A final composite of all four ratings will
give the Orchestra its final rating.
Every RHS Orchestra student should be practicing nightly. Every note and rhythm must be exact, expression and bowings must be correct. There is a great deal of work to be done in the next few weeks.
Parents, administrators and friends are encouraged to attend the State Orchestra Event performance, which will be held at the Gahanna Lincoln High School (140 N. Hamilton Road). The exact time will not be known until the week of contest. Please, come and support our Orchestra!
